Short and sweet this time around.
Big Past or Big Future?
I’m struggling to write this one, so it’s mostly pictures. The one thing I have been thinking about lately:
Am I a big past or big future kind of person?
They’re both exactly what they sound like. A big past person only revels in time gone by… telling the same stories or talking about things that might not even matter anymore. It’s fun for a bit, but it gets old if you stay too long. I had this realization while catching up with an old friend once. Every conversation traced back to high school and college. I thought, “has there been nothing going on with you since then?”. That’s when I really started to notice what excites people when they talk — past, or future?
A big future person cherishes where they’ve been, but they’re also hopeful for what’s to come. Savor your experiences and relive great memories, but don’t let them be the only things you think of. Save room to move forward.
You can only dream about what’s yet to happen. Dreaming in the past is called regret.1
Anyway, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Here’s how I spent mine:
Explored Nevada with
.Cooked.
Pet some Burros.
Took Rex for a hike.

(Sorry
, I’m late to the Thanksgiving Roundup submissions)Also, The Midnight Run hit 100 subscribers over Thanksgiving.
Seriously, thanks to everyone who reads this. Whether you read it once, read it weekly, or just read it to leave hate mail, I’m thankful you’re here.
Dreaming in the past: wishing something to be different from the way it actually happened (regret), not recounting a memory.
I second that the pot pie looks BOMB. Also, fantastic frames, you have a really cool way of capturing the scene and making me feel present. Thanks!
Glad you’re so appreciative; it’s key to that big future.
